Syrian Journalists at the hangout of investigative journalists “Netzwerk Recherche”
Dr. Lutz Mükke (EIJK) interviewed the Syrian journalists Tarek Khello and Ebraheem Alisa Algasam, who talked about threats, censorship and propaganda by the fighting groups as part of the journalist's daily life in Syria.
“Independent journalism? That’s too dangerous for the journalists involved”, Khello says.

New impulses for German media
Khello would encourage German media to be more critical about sources, especially from social media activists in Syria. The media coverage on refugees in Germany is not balanced, he said. The positive stories of “Refugees Welcome” do not adequately reflect refugees’ daily life problems.

A future as journalists in Germany?
Due to their language skills and networks, journalists like Khello and Algasam could support German media e.g. as stringer.
